How to Celebrate While Social Distancing with CBD
By Jaci Schreckengost
Birthdays, holidays, and other celebrations don’t have to stop just because we’re in the middle of the pandemic.
They do, however, have to change to help keep everyone safe. We came up with some great ideas on how to celebrate while still staying socially distant.
Video call dinner parties and happy hours
Whether it’s a normal Tuesday night family dinner or a virtual party, video calls are a great way to stay connected.
Whether ordering food in or cooking together, bringing your friends and family together for a meal is still a great way to connect.
Or, if you’re not into cooking, and missing spending Saturday nights out with friends, you can host your own happy hour.

Put together a video compilation
A great way to celebrate a big day for someone is a video from all their loved ones. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or some other big event that may look different this year, it’s a great way to celebrate.

Decorate and dress up
Even though it may be different, there are things you can do to still make celebrations feel as normal as possible.
First, you can still decorate. Pick your favorite theme, blow up some balloons, and get the party started. Even though you may be alone or with just your immediate family, putting up decorations can make the celebration even better.
You can also dress up. Dressing up to celebrate your big day can make it feel as normal as you can. Grab the fancy outfit you haven’t worn for months, or throw on your cap and gown, and celebrate!
Watch a movie
Break out the popcorn — or your snack of choice. Streaming services are doing what they can to help bring people together at this time.
And, if that doesn’t work for your group, you can always make sure you and your friend(s) begin the movie or show at the same time.
Play a game
Whether it’s a game of bingo, charades, or an online game, this is a great way to bring everyone together.
You could play for prizes or, my personal favorite, bragging rights after winning.
Have a dance party
Open up a meeting room on your preferred video call platform, send out the link to your friends and family, and get ready to have a great time.
