NEW HIGHS PLANT PODIUM: Lulu Tsui
NEW HIGHS’ PLANT PODIUM FEATURES WOMEN FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE, TAKING US TO PLACES WE ARE YET TO EXPERIENCE, TEACHING US NEW ACTIVITIES, AND TALKING THROUGH ROUGH PATCHES, THESE WOMEN ALL ENCOMPASS FACETS OF BEING A TRUE LEADER.
From plant medicine and mind, body, lifestyle, to music and small business ownership – the women of our Plant Podium are all navigating this world in notable ways. We loved chatting with Lulu Tsui about her work as a user experience (UX) designer. Thanks to her passion, she always has people in mind.
What’s your craft?
I am a product UX designer, so I make things human friendly.
What’s your favorite part of the day?
I used to follow the hours of the owl, but now I thoroughly enjoy the time of the lark.
What or who inspires you or brings you out of creative fatigue?
I’m really happy that I’ve surrounded myself with amazing humans who think outside the box and continually inspire me. Whenever I’m in need of a little extra zoom, I’ll micro-dose other plant medicines to shake loose things that get stuck.
How do you think the hemp trend has affected wellness?
The cannabinoids found in hemp, CBD specifically, is having its time in the spotlight, and can help with conditions such as reducing pain and inflammation, decreasing anxiety and stress, and aiding sleep. It is wonderful that there is now a natural alternative to help conditions that are normally treated with pharmaceuticals without the litany of side effects that usually accompanies a prescription.
What’s one tip on how to best integrate CBD into your routine?
For me, CBD definitely helps with relaxation and sleep. If I’ve had a challenging day, I like to take a dropper of New Highs CBD tincture right before bed to help me wind down and fall asleep.
How do you stay balanced?
My friend Kathy introduced me to the Wim Hof method. The breathing technique has turned into a type of meditation that really resonates with me so I try to practice every morning when I wake up. The ice bath, however, is still a challenge. But since I’ve started this practice, I feel my immunity has increased and I haven’t gotten sick!
Being in the cannabis space can be very challenging because so many things are out of your control. It’s the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows, and sometimes multiples of that in one day. It’s really important to surround yourself with like-minded folks who understand, empathize, inspire, and cheer you on during tough times. It’s so much easier to collaborate and problem solve together when you share the same vision and goals.
What’s one app you couldn’t live without that’s not social media?
Duolingo! I love languages and currently learning Spanish using this app.
